Lake Hopatcong NJ Wakeboarding Awesome Sunrise at 5am

5AM Sunrise on Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey

There are many great places to wakeboard on the East Coast.  Believe it or not, New Jersey has some really good spots to wakeboard.  You would not think one of the smallest states in the US can accommodate hard core wakeboarders but it does.

Lake Hopatcong is the largest lake in New Jersey and has many options for the average water sports enthusiast. The lake has several coves so if there are other boats in one area, you can go to another.  The lake is big enough to accommodate fishermen, wakeboarders, water skiers and pleasure cruisers.

Greenwood Lake is another great lake in New Jersey.  Greenwood Lake is technically bigger than Lake Hopatcong but only half of it resides in New Jersey.  The other half of Greenwood Lake is located in New York.

Budd Lake is a nice little lake in New Jersey.  You never see too many boats on that lake so it’s obviously good for calm water.  Just beware that there are some shallow spots so keep a good distance from the buoys.

Culver Lake looks like a pretty good spot to wakeboard.  I am not too familiar with this lake but it definitely looks big enough.

Bordentown, New Jersey has a boat ramp with access to the Delaware River.  Although not a lake, it is a pretty popular spot to wakeboard.

What are some good lakes or rivers that you wakeboard in?

Wakeboarding in New Jersey

Wakeboarding in New Jersey – not a year round sport so for those die hard wakeboarders in NJ, the window is officially open.  Yes, the water is cold but chances are you will not run into any boat traffic in April.  During the summer months, we go early in the AM but for those of you who like to sleep in, weekend wakeboarding is not really fun.  It’s not fun when you have to worry about all the beginner boaters out there holding your life in their hands.  So…if you like wakeboarding and dislike other boats in the water while you are out there, now is the time to get out there.

This year we got a much earlier start compared to prior years.  We were in the water April 10th and it was so NiCCCeee!!

The water is still cold, even with a wetsuit but you always have the option to dock start / stop – just don’t fall!

No dock starts for us, not this time at least.  It was good to be back out!

I remember going wake boarding in November 2 years ago.  It was cold as hell – but never the less, we went.  Who is still freezing their nads off wakeboarding?
